What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are special cells in the body that can make copies of themselves and develop into different types of cells, such as muscle, nerve, or blood cells. Because of this ability, they help the body grow, repair, and replace damaged tissues. In regenerative medicine, scientists and doctors use stem cells to try to restore or replace damaged cells and tissues, helping the body heal from certain diseases or injuries.

Stem cells are special cells in the body that have two key abilities:

  1. Self-renewal: They can divide and make more stem cells.
  2. Differentiation: They can develop into many different specialized cell types (like muscle cells, nerve cells, or blood cells).

Because of these abilities, stem cells act like a repair system for the body, which is why they’re important in any regenerative medicine therapies. Imagine stem cells as blank starter cells in the body that can be instructed to become whatever type of cell is needed to repair damage.

A Few Conditions Stem Cell
Treatments Are Used For

Neurovi Health utilizes advanced regenerative medicine techniques to effectively manage a wide range of chronic pain disorders, with particular emphasis on musculoskeletal conditions, and osteoarthritis and general joint degeneration.

Common Conditions Treated:

  • Joints: Patients with osteoarthritis and general joint degeneration, stem cell therapies are specifically designed to promote the body’s innate capacity to heal damaged cartilage in joints such as the hips, ankles, and wrists.
  • Knees:  Individuals with injuries, including a torn meniscus or Grade I or II ACL injuries, can find relief through our specialized stem cell treatments for knee pain.
  • Shoulders:  Patients suffering from bursitis, tendinitis, and rotator cuff injuries frequently turn to our comprehensive stem cell treatments for shoulder pain.
  • Back Pain:  Our stem cell therapies for back pain offer valuable support for those affected by sciatica, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, and sprains or strains.
  • Damaged Tissue:  Stem cells can be utilized to repair or replace damaged tissues, such as re-growing damaged tissues, replacing diseased cells, and reducing inflammation.

The Most Common Types
Of Stem Cells Used Today

There are various stem cell types available for use, largely defined from where they originated from. Typically, the stem cells are harvested from the patient itself, but can also originate from a few other sources too.

The Most Widely Used Types of Stem Cells:

1.  Embryonic Stem Cells:

  • Come from very early-stage embryos (about 3–5 days old).
  • Pluripotent, meaning they can become almost any cell type in the body.

2.  Adult (Somatic) Stem Cells:

  • Found in many tissues such as bone marrow, fat, and skin.
  • Usually multipotent, meaning they can form a limited range of related cells, like blood stem cells that create red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

3.  Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs):

  • Regular adult cells that scientists reprogram in a lab to behave like embryonic stem cells.
  • Important because they avoid many ethical issues and can be made from a patient’s own cells.

What Are The Benefits
Stem Cell Treatments?

In opposition of the potential risks associated with surgical procedures and the prolonged discomfort of recovery, individuals are increasingly opting for regenerative therapies, including stem cells, and concentrated PRP / BMAC to alleviate pain and restore joint function. The efficiency of natural biologics significantly enhances their recovery time, enabling a quicker return to activities and an improvement in overall quality of life.

The Stem Cell
Evaluation Process

  • The treatment process at Neurovi Health starts with a comprehensive consultation to assess your eligibility for stem cell treatment addressing conditions such as back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, or other types of discomfort.
  • During this initial appointment, a medical professional from our team will conduct a targeted examination and evaluate your medical history along with any prior diagnostic assessments. This vital step is essential to confirm that your condition, whether it stems from osteoarthritis or a sports-related injury, can be effectively managed through our non-invasive methodologies.
  • If deemed a candidate, you will receive a customized treatment plan designed specifically for your needs. Typically, these plans employ a multi-faceted approach that may incorporate a range of natural biologics, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and stem cell interventions. Often, the first treatment can be initiated on the same day as your consultation.

The Treatment Process

Neurovi Health utilizes advanced biologic therapies, including stem cell treatments and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, to effectively manage pain and repair tissue damage, particularly within the joints.

The stem cell treatment process consists of two primary phases.

  1. Initially, a small quantity of the patient’s biological material—either bone marrow or adipose (fat) tissue—is meticulously harvested. This procedure is minimally invasive and is typically performed under local anesthesia. The collected material is subsequently processed to enrich the concentration of stem cells and associated healing factors.
  2. Following this, the concentrated cells are injected into the targeted area of the body that is afflicted with pain or injury, such as a knee joint or an injured tendon. These injected cells assist in facilitating the body’s intrinsic healing processes by diminishing inflammation and promoting the repair of damaged tissue.

Post-Treatment Results

Patients may experience a degree of discomfort or soreness at the site of bone marrow or fat tissue extraction. During the injection phase, it is not uncommon for some individuals to report a brief sensation of pressure or pinching as the stem cells are administered to the targeted area.

Generally, post-procedure discomfort is mild and transient, often characterized as a soreness that is effectively managed with over-the-counter analgesics.

Throughout the treatment plan, which may extend over several weeks to months, patients will receive regular follow-up care to assess their progress. The primary objective is to enhance the body’s natural healing processes, offering sustained pain relief and improved functionality without resorting to surgical interventions or pharmaceuticals.

A significant number of patients report a noticeable reduction in pain following their initial appointment, with pain relief and quality of life improvements typically increasing as they advance through their treatment protocol.
